  Hi Beth:

I'm sorry to hear that your discussions were not more fruitful and that they did not give you cause for long-term optimism. I also applaud your disposition to strategic thinking.

The "champion" at Oakland Schools may/could take the form of an NSF Grant initiative that is in it's workng stages as you know. The due date for the grant letter of intent is April 1, 2004 and the fully completed grant is due in May 2004. I would be glad to discuss the grant initiative in detail and work to date when we get together on Saturday to discuss the media strategy.

Hope all finds you well. I look forward to seeing you Saturday.

Best,

Jim

  Hi folks:

I hope the meeting today with Oakland Schools is meaningful and productive. Please "post" your thoughts and share your insights, etc.

I would be gald to help in the development of a media campaign to raise the inspired "profile" of OSMTech in the eyes and minds of the general public in Oakland County. To that end perhaps we could shape something around the following;

SUMMARY / Questions & Answers

Doug / I concur regarding personal contact (Marketing) on behalf of OSMTech with potential supporters and/or OSMTech Program participants.

PB / These issues were dicsussed in detail at the Saturday (2-14-2004) meeting. The details of same are to voluminous and somewhat distracting for this forum. You can obtain a more detailed update from Beth or myself and/or others whom attended under cover of seperate e-mail and/or voice. Various additional meetings (Oakland Schools, OSMTech Staff, OSMTech Parents Organization) pretaining to these issues are already scheduled and will be addressed as they occur and are appropriate. Thank you for participating! Your input is invaluable.

Beth / I agree that limiting the Steering Committee Members to a handful is a good idea. However, we have a couple of handfuls already inivited to this blog-site. I believe we can handle it. Your ideas on stucture, invitee's, roles, etc. are on target especially regarding student participant inclusion. However, I think we may be a little premature especially regardng superintendents at this point. Let's see how this forum goes and make some alterations and/or decisions as appropriate.

  To Beth or Jim,

Could you give us an overview of the current situation?

I was not a party to the discussion, or lack of it, that occurred with Dr. Keane. Did he render any thoughts on whatever the proposal was that you made to him? What is the status of the CFE merger proposal, if any?

In general, what is the contemporary prevailing atmoaphere? I know that students and parents are conducting fund-raising activities. Although noble, I doubt that they can put but a small dent in the costs associated with the OSM experience.

On the side!

Welcome to the OSMTech blog-site. Please "POST" a brief message to let us know you have arrived.

"When the great function appears, it does not keep to guidelines." This means that people with the great potiential and great funcition are not at all constrained by learning or rules. In all fields of endeavor, there are things to learn and there are rules. People who have attained supreme mastery are beyond them; they act freely and idependently. To act independently, outside of rules, is called personifying great potential and great function.

Best,

Jim
